Ernest

On this beautifully crisp and frosty Welsh morning I had the pleasant surprise of the equally beautiful Ernest No.2 arriving with the post. A journal encompassing wild food, slow adventure, workmanship and curious histories it truly is one of the most handsomely put together publications out there. Which means I am over the moon to have my fish school chart print featured amongst its sublime pages. Order your copy here. You will not be disappointed.

G is for.....

A few more new designs exclusive to my Yorkshire Sculpture Park show. A simple idea based around designs for old school flash cards. More designs to come I hope.

A marquetry bug.

With only a few days until I had to travel up to Yorkshire Sculpture Park and deliver my 'Wild Collection' show I finally got around to realising an idea that was bubbling away for ages. And it damn near killed me! A simple idea a producing a marquetry leaf beetle from painted wooden sheets glued onto plywood, with a finally lustre of varnish on top. Thankfully I was really pleased with the outcome, and as it is now sold, it clearly tickled another persons fancy as well. I think more of this style of work will be in the pipeline, just maybe with less of a deadline on my shoulders next time. Only a week to go before I travel back up to Yorkshire Sculpture Park and collect what is left of my solo show from the Garden Gallery. To get a peek of this giant marquetry bug, hurry on down before it's too late.

The Wooden Collection

A selection of the wooden toys I produced for my solo show at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Wind up bullfinch, bluetit and unknown bird along with a pull-along mallard, grebe and wigeon. All hand screen printed plywood with old clockwork keys, tin meccano wheels and old rubber triang wheels. The show is only on for a few more weeks and as most have been sold already it may be your last chance to take a peek at them all together. More information can be found here.

Here are the six new school chart style screen prints I recently completed for my solo show at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. These were really fun to create and I was extremely pleased with how they turned out. I had been having some major problems with my exposure unit whilst printing these, so they became a real labour of love, but really glad I stuck with it. All hand printed on a full sheet of sumptuous Fabriano Rosapina paper (50x70cms) and available exclusively over at the YSP shop.

The Wild Collection at Yorkshire Sculpture Park

I have spent the last six months working towards my first major solo show and I am still pinching myself at being asked to exhibit at Yorkshire Sculpture Park over the summer. Such a huge privilege to have my work displayed in such an inspiring place. I must also thank Yorkshire for producing two solid weeks of blissful weather.
My show, titled 'The Wild Collection' is house in the wonderful garden gallery that curves around a beautiful old garden wall with a preposterously jaw dropping view just outside its doors.
Within the gallery you will find screen prints, wooden toys, marquetry, mugs, bags, cushions and a mural.
My son seemed pleased with the fruits of my labours.
The show is on now until Sept 7th with over forty one off pieces and limited edition prints for sale, the majority of which have been produced exclusively for YSP. For more information, click here.
